Abstract

The increase in staple food prices often triggers "cost-push" inflation. This type of inflation occurs when rising production costs, including the price of raw materials, are passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices for goods and services. The Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) still faces various challenges in carrying out its functions of price monitoring and control optimally. The policy analysis method in this policy paper is based on the policy evaluation framework outlined by Bardach (2012), which highlights four main criteria. The most feasible policy for Palembang City is a combination of measures that enable comprehensive and responsive inflation management planning tailored to local conditions in Palembang City, namely: Technical Feasibility through Optimization of TPID's Role, Economic and Financial Possibility through Reducing Dependence on Imports, Political Viability through Food Balance Sheets, and Administrative Operability through Supervision of Distribution and Infrastructure. The recommendation is the issuance of a "Mayor of Palembang Decree on Crosscutting Programs for Regional Government Agencies and the Private Sector in Inflation Control" to take more concrete, precise, and responsive actions.
